Dr. Bernato graduated from St. John’s University with a BA in Social Studies Education. He completed his MS degree in Social Studies Education at Queens College and his Professional Diploma in Educational Leadership at C. W. Post. He earned his Doctor of Education from Dowling College. Dr. Bernato became a Professor of Educational Leadership, Technology, and Administration at Dowling College and also served that institution as their NCATE Coordinator and Assistant Dean of the School of Education. He is now a Professor of Administration and Instructional Leadership at St. John’s University. In addition he taught social studies, and served in various administrational leadership posts, culminating as Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services for Connetquot Schools. Dr. Bernato has developed curriculum, published educational simulations and educational articles. He has served as consultant to the New York State Education Department and many schools and school districts in New York, chiefly working in curriculum design, school improvement and reform, strategic planning, and shared decision - making. His book, The Futures Based Change Leader, a Formula for Sustained Change will soon be published by Rowan and Littlefield.
