He helps current and aspiring managers judge consequences that flow from core decisions on value, risk and uncertainty. This enhances a firm’s resiliency and its ability to create sustainable wealth. Dr. Scordis uses his practical and conceptual expertise to translate complex relations into easy-to-understand language at the intersection of insurance, uncertainty and finance. This transaltion aids in the identification of strategic risks. Dr. Scordis is the inaugural holder of the John R. Cox/ACE Limited Chair of Risk and Insurance. When he served as the Chairperson to the SRM, he founded the Masters in Risk and Insurance. He writes for industry publications and publishes his research in peer-reviewed journals. He has been invited to speak on risk and insurance topics worldwide including at the national meeting of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and at the US Securities and Exchange Commission. He was sought out by the US Congress for expert testimony on financial services integration. Dr. Scordis has won repeatedly national and local awards for innovation in instruction and the quality of his teaching. He has been recognized for the applicability of his research. His students honored him by inducting him to the Omicron Delta Epsilon honor society. His University recognized him with its outstanding achievement medal. Dr. Scordis serves on task-forces, committees, panels and editorial boards relating to risk, insurance and finance. He works collaboratively with senior managers of both small and large organizations.

Teaching Interests

I am congenial but impeccably professional. I use effective innovations in teaching and extent learning through technology. I coach my students in resolving authentic challenges from industry. I balance theory with relevance.

Research Interests

I investigate how insurance firms respond to risk and uncertainty in their evolving operations. My investigation enhances the ability of managers to create sustainable wealth.
