Mary Jane Krebbs
Co-Director Institute for Catholic Schools
Dr. Mary Jane Krebbs is the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies in the School of Educationat St. John's University and has recently been named Co-Director of the Institute for Catholic Schools by Fr. Harrington, St. John’s President.
Dr. Krebbs holds a Doctorate in Administration and Supervision from Fordham University and New York State certification as a teacher, school administrator/supervisor and school district administrator.
Dr. Krebbs completed 40 years with the Archdiocese of New York where she worked as an elementary school teacher, a high school teacher, a high school administrator, and a central office administrator. During the 19 years with the Archdiocesan central office, Dr. Krebbs was the Associate Superintendent of Schools working in the areas of curriculum development and staff development for teachers and administrators in grades pre-K through 12 as well as many governance and partnership initiatives throughout the Archdiocese. She has been an adjunct at Long Island University, Fordham University and St. John’s University and represented the nonpublic schools on State Education Department committees.
In addition to her responsibilities as Associate Dean, Dr. Krebbs coordinates several programs for teachers and administrators in the Tri-Diocesan area under the Institute for Catholic Schools. These include the St. Vincent de Paul program for principals and boards in the new academy governance structure for elementary schools in the Brooklyn Diocese, a Curriculum Leadership Team Program for the roll out of the Common Core in elementary schools, projected seminars for the Common Core in Catholic secondary schools, and a program in Not-For-Profit Management with St. John’s Tobin School of Business.
Dr. Krebbs is a national presenter on curriculum issues and Catholic Identity/Values integration. She has authored articles for Momentum and Catholic Education: A Journal of Inquiry and Practice, Today’s Catholic Teacher and NCEA News Notes She has served on numerous boards and is an active member of several professional organizations.
Dr. Krebbs was given the Leadership in Education Award in November 2009 by the New York Conference for Administrators of Independent and Religious Schools in Albany and was named Educator of the Year by Salesian High School in March 2010.
