As a licensed pharmacist in New York and New Jersey, Dr. Leibfried brings over 20 years of pharmacy practice experience into the classroom. In addition to completing a General Pharmacy Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY, her practice has included community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, consultant pharmacy, medical writing, and continuing education. Her specialties include nutrition support, internal medicine, investigational drugs, geriatrics, and psychiatry. In addition to teaching pharmacy practice courses and laboratories at SJU, Dr. Leibfried is the founder and faculty advisor for the student chapter of the NJ Pharmacists Association, and has mentored students in writing and submitting journal publications. She is also a faculty mentor for the St. John's SAFE Mentoring Program for university freshman, and mentors Pharmacy Practice Residents from LIJ and NorthShore Hospitals. Professionally, Dr. Leibfried is involved in the NJ Pharmacists Association and serves on the Student Practitioner Committee, Convention Committee, and is the editor of the peer-reviewed NJ Journal of Pharmacy (The Official Journal of the NJ Pharmacists Association). She serves as the Director of Education for IndustryPharmacist.org, and is a member of the American Pharmacists Association and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. Dr. Leibfried has served as a judge for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Clinical Skills Competition and the American Pharmacists Association Local Patient Counseling Competition, and also proctors the NY State Pharmacist Licensing Part III Exam.
