Lequez Spearman, Ph.D.
Dr. Spearman comes to St. John’s University as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Sport Management. He received his Ph.D. in kinesiology and sport studies from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 2013. After receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Spearman taught for two years at Gordon College, a small Christian liberal arts college located on Boston’s north shore. Prior to his appointment at St. John’s University, Dr. Spearman was an Assistant Professor in Kinesiology at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. His research interests include the decline of African Americans in Major League Baseball, environmental sustainability in sport facilities, and sport management pedagogy. Dr. Spearman has presented at a host of international, national, and regional conferences and his research has appeared in several peer-reviewed journals.
