Jiyun Kim, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Kim comes to St. John's University as an Associate Professor in the Biological Sciences department, after having worked as an adjunct since the fall of 2016. She taught biology courses to undergraudates in both lecture courses and associated laboratory sessions. The two topics she taught include Fundamentals in Organismal Biology, a very preliminary course in anatomy and physiology, and Introduction to Neuroscience. She received her M.D., Ph.D. in medicine, physiology, and biophysics for SUNY at Stony Brook School of Medicine. Previous to teaching, Dr. Kim was engaged in biomedical research as student, fellow, and as an independent investigator. Her most recent research includes imaging immune cell dynamics in the central nervous system by two photon microscopy using various mouse models of disease. She is motivated to serve to enhance education in general through teaching foundational and advanced biology courses for undergraduates, as well as graduate/healthcare professional students in a variety of didactic settings.
