A longtime philologist and polyglot, Harry Ewan was awarded his MFA in Creative Writing from LIU Brooklyn, where he won a 2015 Esther Hyneman Award for Excellence in Creative Writing and an Excellence in English award for his master’s thesis. His BA in Humanities came from NYU, where he also graduated with academic and creative honors. Under his penname, McEwan, his fiction has appeared in the national print/online journal Your Impossible Voice, in the online journals visceral brooklyn and those that this, and in the scholastic print journals Brooklyn Paramount (LIU), Downtown Brooklyn (LIU), and Dovetail (NYU). His stage play Murder Americana ran at Chicago’s Circle Theater, Northwestern University’s Louis Theatre, and Warner Robbins Little Theatre in Georgia, among other regional and institutional venues. In addition to St. John’s University, Mr. Ewan is currently teaching at City College of New York and LIU Brooklyn. He has just begun submitting his thesis novel Hidden People, which was researched in part in Iceland and England. Jessica Hagedorn was his thesis advisor.
