Praying Together for Those Affected by Hurricane Sandy

Campus Ministry joins our University community in praying for everyone affected by Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath. May we all receive support, comfort and healing in this time of recovery.

We look forward to gathering soon with the entire St. John's community to pray in Thanksgiving and remembrance. Please check upcoming editions of Web Digest for additional information, including a date and time.

Along with prayer, helping others also is the St. John's way. We are proud that so many of you have offered your time to those in need. Campus Ministry is making concrete plans to assist the storm's victims in the coming days and weeks. For simple and meaningful ways to assist in the short term, we encourage you to visit NYC.gov.

We realize that every member of the St. John's community has been impacted in some way. We all have friends, family, neighbors and classmates affected by this storm. Campus Ministry will continue to offer ways you can join the recovery efforts. Meanwhile, if you know of any member of our University community requiring assistance, please e-mail us at campusministry@stjohns.edu.

At this time, we ask you to join us in prayer for all those who have lost so much:

A Prayer for the Storm's Victims

Oh God, Creator of earth and sea and sky,

We pray together today for our sisters and brothers

Who have endured this storm,And especially for those we have lost.

Please grant us fortitude and help when needed.

We know that you remain with us in every moment of ourlives:

Lord, please strengthen our faith now,

And let it guide us in these difficult days.

Please protect the safety of police officers and firefighters,

Ambulance crews and medical personnel, as well as those

Who are restoring our power and other services.

Help us to focus on what is good in the human spirit, and always

To thank you for all those who have stepped forward

to help others.

May even this become a moment of Grace for us all.

We make this prayer through Christ, our Lord. Amen
