Human Work: Genesis to Genome
Founder's Week: January 22 - 31,
2001"God wants first the heart and then the work." - St. Vincent de
Paul
On the 20th anniversary of the encyclical of Pope John Paul II,
“On Human Work,” St. John’s University chose the theme of Human
Work to reflect on how our endeavors at this University give glory
to God, in serving our neighbor and preserving and improving the
world we live in. Our vocation, as followers of Vincent de
Paul in the Vincentian Tradition, is to build a world community of
love and justice.
Accordingly, this year's Founder's Week celebration explored the
many ways that students, faculty, staff, and alumni of St. John's
can encourage and contribute to the work of justice and
charity.
