Jean-Pierre Ruiz is a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn and
Associate Professor of Theology and Religious Studies at St. John’s
University. He was appointed a Vincentian Research Fellow in 2004
and is leading a research project of Pastoral Theology in the care
of immigrants. He earned his doctorate from the Pontifical
Gregorian University in Rome. His other research interests include
biblical studies, Hispanic/Latino theology and
ecumenical/interfaith dialogue. Father Ruiz is Past-President of
the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States.
He serves as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Hispanic/Latino
Theology and as an associate editor of the Catholic Biblical
Quarterly.
