Bart Jones

Bart Jones covers immigration issues on Long Island for Newsday, and is a former foreign correspondent for the Associated Press in Venezuela. He spent eight years in Venezuela, including a year as a Maryknoll lay missioner living in a slum in the nation's fourth-largest city. He has reported for the Atlantic City Press, and took a sojourn from his journalism career to teach at a public junior high school in Spanish Harlem and a Catholic school in a Puerto Rican neighborhood in Philadelphia. He is a graduate of Fordham University and earned a master's degree at Columbia University. Although based in New York, he continues to provide coverage of Venezuela for publications including The National Catholic Reporter.
