Talk that Makes a Difference

St. John’s held forums and conferences addressing critical 21st-century issues. These include:

  • “The Human Dignity of Women in Contemporary Society,” held at the U.N. and cosponsored by the University’s Vincentian Center for Church and Society, the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the U.N. and the Path to Peace Foundation
  • The School of Law’s symposium on “Race, Culture, Class and Crisis in Child Welfare: Theory into Practice" brought together distinguished scholars and practioners from diverse disciplines
  • The School of Law’s International Association of Judges conference attracted jurists from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Taiwan and the United States
  • The School of Education hosted New York’s first citywide forums launching an ongoing conversation about vital middle school education issues and produced a report on its findings that has been made available nationwide to education institutions and related organizations
  • NYU Professor of Education and former Assistant Secretary of Education Diane Ravich discussing “A Dissident View of the Bloomberg School Reforms” was the keynote speaker at The School of Education’s annual Carol Gresser Forum
  • The Vincentian Center held a three-day conference on “Languages for Peace: Respect, Dialogue, Understanding, Tolerance”
