Men's Soccer Team Makes Vincentian History

In an historic U.S. collegiate first, the men’s soccer team competed with local players on Vietnamese soil during an 18-day excursion in June 2006 that combined soccer with Vincentian service and learning. Team members volunteered at Daughters of Charity school in Da Lat for poor children and at an orphanage primarily for the deaf and mute in Hanoi. Players also submerged themselves in Vietnamese culture and history. “The most rewarding thing I’ve taken with me from the trip,” says Team Captain Georgios Spanos “was the interaction with the Vietnamese children we met. We were really moved by the experience and decided to all pitch in with our own money and donate the proceeds to the Daughters of Charity.”
