St. John’s invited such internationally known experts to address
the University community as:
Political activist Gerry
Adams, who spoke about the Irish peace process and conflict
resolution stressing that a just resolution in working out the
peace process requires inclusivity.
Renowned physicist Dr.
Brian Greene, expert on Einstein and string theory, who
participated in the 2nd Annual St. John’s College Speaker Series,
in an examination of the relationship between religion and
science.
Former Surgeon General and presently the Director of Primary
Care at Moorhouse College of Medicine in Atlanta, GA, Dr. David
Sacher, who spoke to a packed audience about the quality and
availability of healthcare dependent on economic status among
minorities and disparities by race and the importance of cultural
relativism in delivering direct healthcare.
Dr. Solomon Katz, Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania, Krogman
Growth Center, an expert on the anthropology of food who took part
in the Vincentian Center’s Rendu Roundtable on Religion and Science
where he spoke on “The Role of Spiritual Transformation in
Overcoming World Food and Water Problems.”
