Service

The Vincentian tradition calls us to serve. In 2003-04 68 organizations participated in 179 community service activities. The University’s Academic Service-Learning program, which combines course work with relevant service projects, expanded its offerings. All service events and programs shared a common purpose: to make a difference in the world.

  • Sixty-eight organizations participated in 179 community service activities.
  • Four hundred and fifty to 500 students, representing 11 organizations, raised nearly $29,000 in the 2003 Breast Cancer Walk.
  • Phi Lambda Sigma’s Second Annual Diabetic Halloween brought over 50 students together with diabetic children from St. Mary’s Hospital and St. John the Baptist for tricks and treats.
  • Blood Drives collected 1,010 pints. The University earned a Gold Award fromthe Long Island Blood Services.
