Building for the Better

When the Spring ’03 semester began on January 22, St. John’s opened a new center for intellectual exchange on campus. It is set on the ground floor of the main library on the Queens campus. The Academic Commons is a state-of-the-art facility that provides students with a quiet, comfortable area to study alone or in groups. In addition to being a wireless zone, the commons offers 20 Internet hook-ups.

For students interested in gathering for study-groups, three private study-rooms are available. PC projection equipment is also available to practice presentations. Honors and graduate students have separate commons within the same facilities.

Of course, the University is a work in progress. As St. John’s grows, so do its resources. Read about additional construction and groundbreakings in the pages that follow.
