First of two forums will feature
candidates for NY State Legislature
St.
John’s University, continues its “PARTICIPATE ’12”
program – with two “Meet the Candidate” nights on Tuesday, October
9 and Tuesday, October 23 at the school’s Belson Moot Courtroom in
the School of Law. Both events will begin at 7 p.m.
The October 9 “Meet the Candidate” night will
feature candidates for the New York State Legislature partaking in
a public forum to discuss issues of importance to college students
and the local community. Each Candidate is invited to present a
brief campaign speech to be followed by Q&A from a panel that
includes two St. John’s University undergraduate students, a
faculty member and a media representative from NY1 News.

as a media partner for the “Meet the Candidate Night” forum.
“PARTICIPATE ’12” is a major
civic-engagement initiative to encourage and increase student voter
registration, education and community involvement in anticipation
of the upcoming Presidential Election to be held on Tuesday,
November 6.
