NY1 and the Staten Island Advance Were On
Hand to Capture Volunteers Shaving Heads and Cutting Hair
29
volunteers on St. John’s Staten Island campus participated in the
St. Baldrick’s Foundation and Pantene Beautiful Lengths Event on
February 28, shaving their heads or cutting off 6-10 inches of
their hair to support those suffering from cancer.

Nearly 150 people attended the event to support the volunteers, who
raised $6,560 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and provided
several long hair donations for Pantene. The hair donations
will be used to make wigs for those who have lost their hair while
undergoing treatments for cancer.
St.
John’s University alumnus, Suzanne Mednick, who owns Sublime Salon
and Spak, donated her services, as did local Staten Island barber,
Lou DiMasi. CBS-FM Radio DJ Joe Causi served as emcee for the
event.
