Networking is essential in the world of business – just ask the
members of St. John’s The Peter J. Tobin College of Business Alumni
Association. The group’s most recent networking reception, held
this year at Manhattan’s 3 West Club, allowed alumni and friends to
reconnect with one another while honoring some of St. John’s
outstanding Business professors.

This year’s honorees included:
John Angelidis, Ph.D.
Chairperson and Professor of Management
Vipul Bansal, Ph.D.
Chairperson and Associate Professor of Economics and Finance
Patrick Lyons, Ph.D.
Retired Associate Professor of Management
Additionally, Michael F. Rizzo ’06TCB received the Jim Ehret
Board Member of the Year Award. Named in memory of Jim Ehret
’82CBA, this award is bestowed on a member of the TCBAA who has
shown exceptional dedication to St. John’s and exemplifies the
University’s Vincentian values.
George Maggiore ’81MBA thought this year’s networking reception
was a huge success, thanks in part to its insightful honorees.
“What I
found so impressive was how remarkably humble all of them were,”
Maggiore said. “After receiving their awards, they didn’t simply
say, ‘Thank you,’ like you’d expect. Instead, they gave advice to
the audience, sharing their personal experience on how to excel in
business. Many of our guests, especially the younger graduates,
learned a lot.”
One of those young alumni, Francis Devenecia ’10MBA, enjoyed the
chance to hear from and network with successful St. John’s
alumni.
“The reception was a great opportunity to honor professors and
catch up with classmates,” he said, “but the best part was meeting
so many successful professionals from different industries. It was
a terrific event.”
