St. John’s Law School Declares
August 30, 2011 as Emmett F. McNamara Day In Honor of His
Distinguished Career and 102nd Birthday!
On behalf of the entire School of Law community, Dean Michael A.
Simons extends birthday wishes to Mr. Emmett F. McNamara, Esq. who
celebrates his 102nd Birthday on August 30, 2011. Mr.
McNamara is believed to be St. John’s University School of Law’s
“Most Senior Alumni.”
Mr. McNamara graduated from St. John’s Law in 1937. Post
graduation, Mr. McNamara embarked on a career that encapsulated
service to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the United
States Justice Department and fifty years of private practice.
Career highlights include establishing the first FBI Office on Long
Island and his involvement in the apprehension and detention of
German Saboteurs who entered the United States illegally via a
beach landing in Amagansett, NY. The saboteurs, who arrived
in the United States by submarine, were part of a Nazi master plan
intended to hamper the United States involvement in WWII through
the launch of terrorist attacks nationwide.
“The love of my family, a recreational tennis regime and a daily
banana are keys to my longevity,” noted Mr. McNamara.
