After earning a B.S. degree from Villanova University, Dr. DiGiuseppe received his Ph.D. from Hofstra University in 1975. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Albert Ellis Institute in 1977. Dr. DiGiuseppe joined St. John's in 1987, where he developed a doctoral program in school psychology and received the University's Faculty Achievement Medal. He is presently professor and chair of the psychology department.

Since 1980, Dr. DiGiuseppe also served as Director of Professional Education of the Albert Ellis institute. He has trained hundreds of therapists in REBT and CBT. He received the Jack Krasner early career contribution award from APA's Division of Psychotherapy and has elected a fellow of the American Psychological Association's divisions of Psychotherapy, Clinical, School and Family Psychology.

Dr. DiGiuseppe helped develop the Diplomate in Behavioral Psychology (1986-87) and served on the Diplomate board. He was associate program chair (1995), and program chair (1996) for Association for Advancement of Behavior Therapy (AABT). He has served on the editorial board of AABT's Cognitive and Behavioral Practice since its founding. He served as AABT convention coordinator (1997 - 2000) and associate convener for the 2001 World Congress for Behavior Therapy.  Dr. DiGiuseppe developed and promoted popular convention formats such as the Master Clinician Series and the World Rounds demonstrations. Dr. DiGiuseppe was elected AABT representative-at-large in 2001. He is presently President Elect of this organization which has changed its name to the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (previously known as the Association for Advancement of Behavior Therapy).

Dr. DiGiuseppe has contributed to the scientific and clinical literature with six books, more than ninety chapters and articles, and more than a hundred conference presentations. His present scholarship focuses on clinical aspects of anger, on which he lectures widely. He lives with this wife and four children, ages eight through twenty-three, and cooks great risotto.

Research Interests
Dr. DiGiuseppe has studied anger as a clinical problem and has promoted the recognition of anger as a form of psychopathology. He has developed standards for identifying anger disorders and the Anger Disorders Scale. He has also published on the development of the theory, practice and research of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapies and their application to children, adolescents, and families. He has also been interested in the development of the therapeutic alliance in child and adolescent psychotherapy. He is studying the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of persons with anger problems.
