Jamaica, NY - St. John's University has dedicated Helen and Hugh L. Carey Hall, one of its six residences on the Queens campus, in honor of Hon. Hugh L. Carey ('42C, '51L) and his late wife Helen.

An alumnus of St. John's University and the School of Law, Gov. Carey received the Medal of Honor in 1992 and the Spirit of Service award in 2000. The former two-term Governor of New York was honored in a ceremony attended by family, friends and members of the University community.
