Office of Media Relations
The St. John’s Office of Media Relations (under the auspices of
the Office of the President) handles all publicity efforts for the
University in dealing with local, national and international print,
TV, radio and Internet opportunities. All external communications
involving press releases, press conferences, media interview
requests, publicity driven-event coordination and academic
programming initiatives originate from this office.
In addition, University statements and interviews by our expert
analysts about topical subject matter for media consideration are
coordinated by the Office of Media Relations. We also are able to
provide SKYPE video calls for interviews via the Internet upon
request.
The office is run by Dominic Scianna, Assistant Vice President
for Media Relations, who is in his 15th year with the University.
Scianna, a graduate of Columbia College of Chicago, has had prior
experience as St. John’s Director of Athletic Communications from
1996-2004 and Assistant Athletics Director for External Affairs

Elizabeth Reilly, Associate Director of Media Relations, is in
her seventh year with the University. A graduate of St. John’s and
Iona College, Reilly had previously worked as Director of Athletic
Communications/Compliance at SUNY Old Westbury in New York and was
an Assistant Director in the St. John’s athletic department
from 2003-2005.
Administrative Assistant Diane Blascovich has handled direct
contact with media inquiries and the day-to-day operations of the
office for the past year and a half. Graduate Assistants Lauren
Groom and Joel Dillon, along with two student workers; assist with
office duties, press release distribution, phone contact and
coordination of research and events.
