A small group of St. John’s Alumni Association members recently visited US Circuit Court Judge Diarmuid O’Scannlain, J.D. ’57C, at the Pioneer Courthouse in Portland, OR. O’Scannlain was appointed by former President Ronald Reagan in 1986 and has served for more than 30 years on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Celebrating New York City’s diversity and its early role in the fight against slavery, a new exhibition at St. John’s University’s Staten Island campus is part of a year-long program showcasing the history and culture of nearby Sandy Ground, one of America’s oldest surviving communities established by free African Americans.
