On October 20-23, 2016, St. John’s Law hosted its annual Peter James Johnson ‘49 National Civil Rights Trial Competition.
The McCallen Society members joined with host Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw, Ph.D., President of St. John’s University, and celebrant Rev. John A. Kettelberger, C.M., at the society’s Annual Recognition Mass and Luncheon on October 11.
Students from the Alpha Iota chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma represented The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, receiving the Edison L. Bowers Award for the first time in the chapter's 25 year history.
Carrying his résumé, and eager to make professional connections, Peter Del Re ’17MBA joined nearly 1,200 St. John’s students and recent alumni at St. John’s University’s annual Fall Career and Internship Fair. Corporate recruiters came to the Queens campus to meet students excited to take their next step toward a bright future. “This is a great way to make connections, and St. John’s has some of the best connections in New York City,” Peter observed.
St. John’s University will participate as a collection site for the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 22.
As part of its PARTICIPATE initiative, St. John’s will host a “Meet the Candidates” Night on Monday, October 24. In advance of the general election, local candidates for state and federal offices are invited to a public forum to discuss issues of importance to college students and the local community.
On October 19, 2016, Richard M. Steuer, Senior Counsel at Mayer Brown LLP, presented the 2016 Lewis Bernstein Memorial lecture in the Law School’s Belson Moot Court Room.
