Dr. Gempesaw Signs Statement of Solidarity in Support of DACA

December 2, 2016

He joins a growing list of Catholic leaders in higher education supporting students who have qualified for DACA to continue their studies.

Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw, Ph.D., President of St. John’s University, joined close to 100 leaders in Catholic higher education who have signed a statement expressing solidarity with undocumented students, urging continued support for a vulnerable student population. More signatures are expected. The statement issued by the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU) promotes the belief that students who have met the criteria of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy, issued by President Barack Obama in 2012, should be allowed to continue their studies without interruption.
