St. John's Hosts Queens Borough President Melinda Katz and the Queens Chamber of Commerce at Business Breakfast
St. John’s President Dr. Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw delivered opening remarks as the University hosted the 2014 Queens Chamber of Commerce Breakfast with Borough President Melinda Katz in the D’Angelo Center on Tuesday, February 10.
The annual event, sponsored by the Queens Chamber of Commerce, follows the Queens Borough President’s State of the Borough address and attracts business leaders and members of both the public and private sectors from across the borough.
In his words of welcome, Dr. Gempesaw highlighted the University’s recent tuition savings initiative and the growing economic impact that St. John’s makes in Queens and in the New York City regional area.
Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, a graduate of St. John’s School of Law, thanked the University for hosting the event that attracted over 175 attendees. Borough President Katz used the breakfast event to make a major administrative appointment when she announced that Melva Miller, Director of Economic Development for the Borough President’s office, will now serve as the new Queens County Deputy Borough President.
