SEARCH Retreat Offers Spirit-Filled Weekends

Tuesday, November 12, 2013

Thirty-seven St. John’s students participating in the popular SEARCH Retreat program attended the third installment of the retreat held November 8–10 at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, NY.

The program, inaugurated at the University two years ago, serves as a “spiritual plunge” that helps students discover who they are as individuals and how they relate to others and to God.

Gabriella Terzulli ’14Ed  observed, "The time that I spent organizing, leading and experiencing the Search 3 retreat was filled with grace and unconditional love. It is so rare that a group of strangers can come together and emerge as a community connected, despite their different experiences and life journeys, by respect, love, and faith. I truly believe that everyone was meant to experience this special retreat together."

Attendees were joined by Jen Serbes ’13C, graduate assistant for faith formation; James Behan ’04CPS, ’10G, faith formation and music ministry, Staten Island campus; Dennis Gallagher, director of liturgy and faith formation, Queens campus; and a leadership team of eight students.

SEARCH 4 will take place April 4–6, 2014. Interested students may apply now at stjohns.edu/retreats. Please pass on this information to any student who may benefit from a SEARCH retreat.
