St. John's University students gain access to information,
services, and communities via - St. John’s
Central. This makes it easier for St. John's faculty to develop
and maintain content for the students and provide commercial
quality services using higher education resources.
Faculty provide online course materials, syllabi, assignments,
readings, library and other Internet links for their students using
St. John's Central. Students can also receive email from their
professors or classmates via St. John’s Central.

Students can post questions or comments to the Message Board about
course work that may spark further discussion online or onsite with
classmates

The Calendar provides dates for important class events
Chat
Students can receive immediate responses from classmates or the
professor during scheduled Chat sessions

Classmates listed on a class list are easily accessible for
Email.
Blackboard
Blackboard, formally called WebCT, goes beyond the services offered
by St. John’s Central providing online access to text, complex
equations, images, video, audio, student quizzes, searchable
indexes, glossaries, image databases, interactive white board,
grade management, feedback via the online grade book, self-test and
progress tracking. If a class is supported by Blackboard, St.
John’s Central will link to the course site.
