How much does the X200 cost and how do I pay for it?
The laptop will cost $675 payable in one installment or in three installments payable monthly. The amount will be charged to your account with the University.
If you have excess funds on your student account from financial aid, you can use it to trade-in and trade-up your computer.

What is the deadline for doing the trade-In?

You must be an active St. John’s undergraduate student, be registered and have fulfilled your financial obligations for fall 2009. 

Why is this offer a great deal?

This is a chance to obtain a brand new X series laptop at about less than half the market price.

Can I just buy a new X200?
In order to receive the great St. John’s price of $675, you need to trade in your existing University-issued laptop in good working condition. If your laptop is not in good working condition, you are responsible for any repair costs. Please be sure to backup your data first so you can transfer it to the new laptop.

Do I get to keep the laptop if I leave the school before I graduate?
Yes, after payment in full, the laptop will be yours to keep.

I am a transfer student. Can I take advantage of this offer?
Yes, the offer is available to transfer students as well.

I am a graduate student. Why can’t I trade-in?
Currently, this program is only offered to undergrad students.  Graduate students and alumni will be able to take advantage of special pricing on this and other Lenovo products in the fall.

Will I get a new laptop bag if I trade-in?

No, laptop bags are not included with the offer. 

Where do I go to express my interest in a laptop trade-in?
Visit our Web site  at www.stjohns.edu/tradeup and follow the prompts to inform us that you are interested in the offer.

When can I get my new laptop?
Login to St. John’s Central and navigate to UIS. Go to the Student Menu at the bottom of the screen and choose Trade-In Trade Up appointment. Once you choose that, you will be prompted to choose a date, time and location for pickup. Be sure to bring your existing St. John’s issued laptop.

If it breaks, who will fix it?
The laptop is under warranty for a period of two years.  It can be repaired at the campus laptop repair shop. Please be aware that some repairs such as accidental damage may incur a fee. 

Will my printer work with this laptop?
Yes, be sure to install your current printer driver onto the laptop for best performance.  The campus repair shop can assist you if you need help.

What software is included on the laptop?

The laptop comes preconfigured with the standard St. John’s image of MS Office 2007, Windows XP and antivirus software.

Is there any warranty period?
Yes, the warranty period is two years from the date of purchase.

Where do I go to get help?
Personnel in the laptop shop in Sullivan Hall on the Queens campus and in DaSilva Hall on the Staten Island campus can assist. The Laptop shop is open from 8:30 - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday during the summer. Check for expanded hours in the fall.

Will my current files be transferred?
Yes, University personnel will assist you with the transfer of academic data to your new laptop. No illegal data or software can be transferred.

Can I return the laptop after I purchase it?
No, the laptop cannot be returned after purchase.

I'm planning to study abroad this Fall. Can I still take advantage of this special opportunity to trade-up?
Yes. If you're planning to spend the Fall semester at our Rome campus or another international location, make sure you schedule your trade-in appointment before you leave for your study abroad destination.
