Where Should I Recycle?

On Campus
Two medium-size recycle containers can be found in all public corridors, event spaces, dining facilities and office suites. Together, these recycling containers are referred to as a  Recycle Station. Recycling Stations have separate containers for plastic bottles, aluminum & tin cans & glass bottles and paper of mixed kind.

In addition, all office / work stations should have a small blue recycle container for mixed paper. Contact Facilities Services ext. 6253 if you do not have a container for mixed paper.

All small and medium-size containers are emptied into the larger recycle containers by custodial maintenance personnel. Materials are counted / measured and then carted away by private company. Corrugated cardboard is recyclable and can be left along side or behind any Recycle Station for pick up.

Residential Halls
Each floor of all residential buildings should have medium-size designated recycle containers for

  1. plastic bottles, aluminum & tin cans and glass bottles
  2. paper of mixed kind

On Queens campus, because of the volume, in addition to the medium-size recycle containers there are larger recycle containers within the recycling / trash closets. All recycling containers are inspected daily and emptied by custodial staff on an as needed basis to a designated central pick up point. These materials are counted / measured then carted away by private company.
