Keeping Time With a New Campus Landmark

Students passing St. John’s University’s new Taffner Field House will be able to check their watches against a magnificent new, free-standing clock gracing the courtyard between the field house and Carnesecca Arena.

The ornate clock is the latest expression of generosity by the Taffner family. Last September, the Taffner family gathered on St. John’s Queens campus to dedicate the two-story, 38,000-square-foot facility.

Constructed through the generous support of Eleanor Taffner, a trustee of the University, and her husband Donald, an alumnus, the ultramodern field house is part of a $23 million athletic and student recreation enhancement.

These enhancements, in turn, reflect the ongoing upgrades in facilities, technology and academic programs made possible by St. John’s record-breaking, $271 million “Fulfilling the Dream Campaign.” The University completed the Campaign in June.

We invite you to view our Photo Gallery highlighting this new Queens campus landmark.
