Theresa Maylone serves as Dean of University
Libraries. She came to St. John’s in 1999 as the Libraries’
Coordinator of Planning, Budgeting and Development and served as
Executive Director of Libraries, University Librarian and Interim
Dean before being appointed Dean in 2011.
Ms. Maylone was previously Assistant Dean of the Palmer Graduate
School of Library and Information Science of Long Island University
where she was also a member of the School’s faculty. Her
publications include co-editorship of a thematic issue on
qualitative research in the journal Library Trends, and
co-authored book chapters on information management and
organizational and technological change in higher education—a
continuing research interest. Ms. Maylone has served as President
of the Westchester Academic Library Directors Organization,
Convener of the Long Island College and Academic Library Directors
Organization and as a board member of the Metropolitan New York
Library Resources Council.
Prior to joining academe, Ms. Maylone held library managerial
positions at General Foods Corporation and Kraft Foods
International.
Dean Maylone holds the M.S. in Information Management from Pratt
Institute and a B.A. in American Literature from Syracuse
University. The mother of one son, she and her husband live in
Westchester County.
