In his 30-year career as a sports broadcaster, Bruce Beck has
covered everything from NBA playoffs to the Olympics. Yet he has
found a common thread uniting many of those varied events.
That shared thread is St. John's University. In his online blog
from the London Olympics for NBC 4, Beck made this observation in a
special post to
Rev. Donald J. Harrington, C.M., President of St. John's.
"It seems," Beck told Fr. Harrington, "as though everywhere I
go, every local athlete I cover, every story I develop — there's a
link in some way to your wonderful University. . . . I'd be remiss
if I did not tell you that St. John's 'pride' is booming an ocean
away."
