Richmond County Orchestra

The Office of Community Relations hosts performances by the Richmond County Orchestra on the Staten Island Campus each year.

The Richmond County Orchestra (RCO) produces professional symphonic performances for the greater Staten Island public in a wide variety of venues throughout the borough.

RCO's programming under Maestro Alan Aurelia attracts soloists of International fame and the best local New York musicians, many of whom have played with the finest European orchestras. Combined with younger American talent from the major New York City music schools, it provides a student mentoring service. Recently, a student refugee from Hurricane Katrina performed with the RCO at St. John’s

In addition to presenting free and low cost productions of classical and modern symphonic works, the Orchestra also produces programs in cooperation with New York-based dance companies and other artists, . The RCO frequently includes many local public school children in their concerts and provides extensive music outreach residencies in local schools and community centers throughout the year. This 97-member organization has also been featured on Time Warner cable, nationwide and local TV, and WSIA 88.9 F.M.
