More than 1,000 people gathered in
St. John’s University’s Carnesecca Arena for an evening of musical
classics during the Eighth Annual Summer Concert on Monday, August
28. Playing on stage in Carnesecca Arena, the Queens Symphony Orchestra
filled the air with classic Bernstein and Broadway selections.
The concert, held from 7 to 10 p.m. was conducted by Constantine
Kitsopoulos and featured vocalists Paris Cheffer and Culver Casson
and special guest singer, City Councilmember Melinda Katz
The evening’s host was Joseph Sciame, Vice President for
Community Relations at St. John’s University. The Office of
Community Relations works closely with local civic and government
agencies to promote cultural vitality in Queens and Staten
Island.
