Queens Borough Hall
This marks the eight year that St. John's will participate in
the annual "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" Walkathon through
Queens. Marching in unity for more than 7 miles, members of the St.
John's University community will join 8,000 men, women and children
on Sunday morning, October 21.
In Queens, St. John's participants will set out from Queens
Borough Hall. Wearing their familiar pink bows - symbols of the
fight against breast cancer - they marched along Queens Boulevard
for 7.7 miles. Joseph Sciame, Vice President for Community
Relations at St. John's, addressed the crowd: "We are here because
breast cancer has touched all of us in some way, and St. John's is
going to walk today."
The more people we have working toward our shared goal, the more
likely we are to achieve it. But if you can’t join our team, we
hope you’ll help by
making a donation yourself and by spreading the word to others.
Together, we WILL defeat breast cancer!
The images below capture the energy and faith that marked past
year's Walkathons. We invite you to explore the images, and to
share the spirit of the day.
