St. John’s University was presented with the Bronze Award by the New York Blood Center

June 08, 2006

St. John’s University was presented with the Bronze Award by the New York Blood Center at an awards dinner at Terrace on the Park. The award  recognizes the University as a  major force in blood donation in the New York Area. After an evening of dining and guest speakers, the award was accepted by Kevin Ryan and Marge Cashin on behalf of Vice President Joseph Sciame of the Office of Community Relations.

The Office of Community Relations will host a special Summer Blood Drive on Tuesday, June 13th in Sun Yat Sen Hall from 10am to 3pm. All are welcome to come and give blood, especially University employees. This Spring has been the most successful semester for blood drives in St. John's history. Over 500 pints of blood have been donated on our campus since January, saving hundreds of lives.

The Office of Community Relations, in conjunction with other university departments, student organizations and Long Island Blood Services, hosts several campus-wide blood drives each year in an effort to increase blood donations and raise awareness about the New York City Area blood supply. Events are open to the public and all are encouraged to donate.
