March 28, 2006
Queens, N.Y. -
St. John's University’s Vice President for Community Relations
Joseph Sciame presented Michael Bookbinder, President of the
Jamaica Estates Civic Association, with a check for $10,000 on
behalf of University President Rev. Donald J. Harrington, C.M.
“St. John’s University has assisted us once more in terms of our
Jamaica Estates Civic Association in the presentation of a $10,000
donation made possible by its president, the Rev. Donald J.
Harrington, C.M.,” said JECA President, Michael Bookbinder. “Rev.
Harrington shows great support for the surrounding community and
has heard of our needs for the good of the homeowners as well as
for the University itself. St. John’s shows that it is being
a good neighbor by partnering with a civic association for the good
of the community.”
The donation will continue to cover the areas east of the
University campus, bordered by Utopia Parkway, Union Turnpike and
the Grand Central Parkway.
