Dr. Petropoulou is Associate Professor of French and Chair of the Department of Languages and Literatures since 2011. She taught courses in French language, culture, and Literature at St. John’s University. She implemented many curricula changes in the French program when she served as a French Coordinator 1990-2013. She received funding from the European Community Studies Association in 1995 for innovative curricula development at St. John’s University. The students selected her as “Professor of the Year” in 1994. She was a Co-Director in two Title VI Grants for interdisciplinary collaborations in International Business, International Studies, and Language programs (1996-2001). She received an NEH Summer Seminar Grant in 1996.
Areas of Responsibility
Dr. Petropoulou serves as Assistant Provost for Global Initiatives. She represents the Provost on all matters relating to global education and global academic issues. She collaborates with the Office of Global Programs to achieve the university’s global strategic goals and she partners with the Office of Global Programs to lead a university-wide internationalization review. At the same time, Dr. Petropoulou serves as a Chair of the Department of Languages and Literatures.
