SJU Web Site

As part of its rebranding effort, St. John’s launched a new University website in January 2014.

The updated site offers users a fresher, more attractive format; clearer, more intuitive navigation; and stronger features across all platforms. The design showcases St. John’s updated graphic identity and thematically incorporates the University’s brand messaging “pillars”—academic excellence without bounds; faith, service, and success; the power of a global city and a world campus; an alumni network that opens doors; and New York City’s team.

The redesign followed a thorough review and analysis of the former site, identifying best practices, reorganizing the site’s architecture, and working with various departments on content layout and migration.

New Features and Updated Technology
The site incorporates responsive-design technology, which detects and changes the layout of a web page to fit a user’s screen size and orientation.  Accessing SJU online is now easier and more productive for those who rely upon tablets and mobile phones, today’s fastest-growing digital markets. In addition, the reorganized site architecture provides quicker access to the information users need.

Another feature, MySJU, is located at the top of every page. It offers ready access to information that students, professors, and employees need, including links to St. John’s Central, UIS, and faculty support.

Internal users also benefit from the site’s Drupal Content Management System, which streamlines the process of posting targeted web content including text, photos, news and events.  All approved administrators, faculty, and staff who maintain their department’s online content will receive training in the tool. Schedules for learning to use the CMS will be announced when available.
