Policy 506 - Voting Leave
Policy Number: 506
Responsible Office: HR/HR Services
Effective Date: 04/01/01
This policy applies to all full-time and part-time administrators, staff and faculty.
The University encourages employees who are registered voters to exercise their right to vote. If an employee does not have four consecutive hours either between the opening of the polls and the beginning of his or her scheduled workday, or between the end of his or her scheduled workday and the closing of the polls, then the employee may request up to two hours of paid voting leave.
Voting time must be taken either at the beginning or at the end of the workday. Employees must notify their supervisor at least two days before the day of the election that they require time off to vote.
